Meriam Process Technologies offers free Applications Newsletter to assist with meeting EPA NOx emission standards

Meriam Process Technologies announces a free applications newsletter that helps with two difficult measurements typically found in many industrial settings. The first task is to measure fuel and combustion air flow into natural gas compressors. The second is to measure the flow rate of the exhaust gas coming out of the compressor motor. Both measurements are important in order to burn gas at peak efficiency and maintain compliance with EPA NOx emission regulations.

The Meriam Accutube Flow Sensor is a good instrument for both applications due to low cost,ease of installation, low permanent pressure loss and accurate measurement with a high rate of repeatability.

These Accutubes offer the convenience of directly mounting a DP or Multivariable transmitter onto the top of the instrument head. The transmitter may be HART, Foundation Fieldbus or Profibus PA, depending upon the user’s requirements. This offers mounting convenience and saves significant costs normally associated with installation.

Meriam's Accutube Flow Sensors are Annular Averaging Pitot Devices that are inserted into the pipe via a weld coupling. They operate in a similar fashion to an ASME type pitot tube without the need for multiple readings. The Meriam Accutube automatically senses and averages the velocity profile and the static line pressure to provide a differential pressure output. Accuracy is ±1% of flow rate with a repeatability of +0.1% as tested and certified by independent testing laboratories.
