Meriam Process Technologies Introduces the Complete Flow Solution

Meriam Process Technologies’ Complete Flow Solution™ Offers Many Advantages Over Traditional Flow Measurement Devices.

Meriam Process Technologies’ Complete Flow Solution™, which is used for the precise measurement of liquid, gas and steam flows, provides more accuracy, convenience and flexibility than traditional orifice plates and vortex meters, at an overall lower cost.

Engineered and assembled by Meriam, the Complete Flow Solution™ consists of an Accutube™ averaging pitot tube, a three valve manifold and a multivariable transmitter. The innovative system produces a mass flow rate that is fully compensated for static pressure and temperature, eliminating the need for DSC calculation.

When Accutube™ technology is utilized, the number of components and leak points are significantly reduced and installation costs are lessened by up to 40 percent when compared with orifice plates and vortex shredding transmitters. Plus, Accutubes virtually eliminate the problem with permanent pressure loss across the orifice plate or vortex shredder. The Accutube™ creates a permanent pressure loss that is less than 10 percent of the DP it creates. This contrasts with 30 percent to 70 percent of the DP permanent pressure loss that orifice plates produce. This lower pressure loss means the pump and fan do not have to work as hard, thereby reducing energy costs, particularly at higher line sizes.

Testing conducted in Meriam’s flow lab, which is ISO/IEC 17025:1999 certified for additional calibration, proves its extreme accuracy. Testing performed by Utah Research Laboratories and the University of Michigan shows that the Complete Flow Solution™ offers accuracy to + 1.3 percent of flow rate with repeatability of + 0.1 percent.

For greater convenience, the Complete Flow Solution™ enables single point access to three process variables- pressure, temperature and differential pressure. Other unique features include an integral three valve manifold for direct mounting of the transmitter and an optional internal thermowell for RTD insertion.

Installation is further simplified since the mounting angle has no affect on the Complete Flow Solution’s operation, customers can choose from compression fitting, flanged or wet tap retraceable mounting options. The round design of the Accutube™ averaging pitot tube allows further flexibility in length, size, delivery time and cost. To meet the needs of many applications, a wide variety of standard pipe sizes are available, with special larger sizes up to 20 feet.

Meriam offers a number of metals for flange mounted units, including exotics such as Monel©, Hastelloy C276© and Iconel©.
